The impact of energy policies in scenarios on GHG emission reduction in passenger car mobility in the EU-15

چکیده
This paper compares and discusses possible greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions due to different policy measures implemented in passenger car transport in the EU-15. The major instruments analyzed are fuel and registration taxes, support measures for biofuels as well as standards for specific CO2 emissions from new passenger cars. The methodology applied is based on scenarios for the dynamic development of GHG emissions and energy consumption depending on implemented policies. Using the ALTER-MOTIVE model, created in the scope of an EU-funded project, in a dynamic framework a Business as usual and a Policy scenario are compared to extract the impacts of policies up to 2030. The major result is that in total, GHG emissions could be reduced at least by 33% in a selected Policy scenario compared to a Business-as-usual scenario up to 2030. In the future only a broad portfolio of different policy instruments and alternative technologies and fuels can reduce energy consumption and the resulting GHG emissions remarkably. & 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Decomposition and Analysis of Driving Forces of GHG Emissions and Emission Reduction Potentials in Iran
Climate change cannot control unless by reduction of GHG emissions to secure level, therefore it is important to identify driving forces and possible scenarios based on targets. In this research, the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index decomposition approach in combination with Extended Kaya Identity (EKI) are applied to investigate five factors could affect emissions during 1971-2012 in Iran. Thes...
متن کاملA Least-cost Approach to Reduce Co2-emissions in Passenger Car Transport: This Time Economics Will Kill the Electric Car
Reducing CO2 emissions (note that CO2 refers to CO2-equivalents) in road passenger car transport is a major objective of many governments world-wide. To meet this goal various types of policy strategies – fuel or registration taxes, promotion of biofuels, technical efficiency improvements of conventional cars as well as introduction of hybrid and battery electric vehicles (BEV) – are considered...

Malaysia, as a small and developing country, must reduce carbon emissions because the country is one of the top CO2-emitting countries in the ASEAN region. Therefore, the current study implements two environmental tax policies; carbon and energy taxes, in order to examine the impacts of these policies on the reduction of carbon emission in the whole of the economy by applying a compu...
